Lists

It’s hard to think clearly under stress. Having a list and contact information posted by the door during fire season helps remind people which neighbours to call and what to bring in an evacuation:

• Emergency kit 

• Go box

• Items not already in the emergency kit, e.g., jugs of water, cell phone, purse, pet kennel, leash, etc.

Plans

Families aren’t always together when emergencies occur. It’s a good idea to make a family plan so family members can contact each other, make sure they all have transportation, and meet at an agreed-upon location.

Contact numbers and family plans can be taped to the inside of the emergency kit's lid as well as being posted in the house.
