  3. Look for updates on the Miworth Community Facebook page

  4. Send out the emergency response audible signal: Three horn blasts repeated at five-second intervals

  5. For a railway-related emergency: call 1-800-465-9239

Possible emergencies in Miworth

  • Derailment with hazardous materials

  • Windstorm with downed trees/power lines

  • Extended power outage

  • Road impassable (washout, power lines, rail accident)

Evacuation order - road open

If a wildfire is directly threatening Miworth and the Regional District issues an evacuation order

  • Communicate with the neighbours on your contact list: are you aware of the situation? Are you in Miworth or elsewhere? What do you need?

  • Collect family members and neighbours who need transportation

  • Load your pets, emergency kit, and "go box" into your vehicle

  • Drive to Prince George


Evacuation order - road closed

If a wildfire is threatening Miworth and the Regional District issues an evacuation order but the road is blocked by fire

  • Communicate with the neighbours on your contact list: are you aware of the situation? Are you in Miworth or elsewhere? What do you need?

 Reason for mustering
If it is unsafe to remain in Miworth but the road is compromised, residents gather at muster points to be evacuated under the direction of the Regional District or the RCMP (escorted by road or airlifted).

At the muster stations volunteers will make lists of people present and people unaccounted for.

  • Residents communicate to each other about the fire

  • by repeating 3 blasts of a horn at 5-second intervals

  • Residents who are willing and able volunteer to help extinguish it

Fire in another area that may threaten Miworth

  • Regional District issues an evacuation alert

  • Residents prepare to evacuate and make arrangements for their animals

  • Residents may choose to leave before the alert becomes an order

Fire threatening Miworth

  • Regional District issues an evacuation order

  • Residents follow the Miworth community plan to evacuate to Prince George if the road is open or go to muster stations if the road is blocked
